Dr Waites is a general adult Cardiologist specializing in diagnostic procedures ensuring optimal evidence based clinical care for his patients. Having qualified in 1984 from the University of London (The Royal London Hospital), Dr Waites embarked on Physicians training in the UK before returning to Australia in 1989.

Dr Waites spent a year in Cairns working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service ensuring his determination to provide cardiology services in a rural environment.

Advanced cardiology training in Adelaide and Sydney enabled Dr Waites to establish Coffs Cardiology in 1994. Dr Waites was instrumental in the Coffs Angio Unit being established in Coffs Harbour.

He is a member of;

  • The Royal College of Physician of London (UK)
  • The Royal Australasian College of Physicians and
  • The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand

Dr Waites is a visiting medical officer for the Coffs Harbour Health Campus, Baringa Private Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital. He performs diagnostic coronary angiograms at the Coffs Angio Unit .

Dr Waites is fluent in French, an advanced SCUBA diver, has a pilots license and is an endurance athlete competing in marathons as well as Olympic, 70.3, and ironman distance triathlon events.
